NIGERIA TEAM READY FOR RIO CUP

The 11 wrestlers consist of two Greco Roman wrestlers, five female and four male freestyle wrestlers. The President of the NWF, Hon. Daniel Igali, said in the female category, Mercy Genesis (48Kg), Aminat Adeniyi (58Kg), Blessing Oborududu (63Kg) Reuben Hannah (69Kg) and Blessing Onyebuchi (75Kg) would represent the nation. Igali said in the Greco Roman, Emmanuel Nworie (66Kg) and Tochukwu Okeke (75Kg) will feature, while in male freestyle, Welson Ebikewenimo (57Kg) Amas Daniel (65Kg), Melvin Bibo (74Kg) and Soso Tamara (97Kg) will represent Nigeria. “The championship is to prepare Nigeria wrestlers for the Olympic qualifiers that will hold at Alexandra, Egypt and Algiers, Algeria,” he said. “We have already secured a slot for the Rio 2016 Olympic through Odunayo Adekuoroye and I strongly believe that Nigeria will grab all available slot next year,” a confident Igali said. Kyle Snyder, shown after his semifinal win at the 2015 World Championships, will return to the mat at the Brazil Cup on December 11. Four top U.S. Olympic-caliber wrestlers will compete in overseas international tournament during December. 2015 World champion Kyle Snyder (Woodbine, Md./Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC) will compete at 97 kg/213 lbs., and Tyler Graff (Dublin, Ohio/New York AC) will wrestle at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. at the Brazil Cup in Contagem, Brazil, December 11-12. Snyder will be competing for the first time since winning his World title in Las Vegas in September, becoming the youngest American to win a Senior World title at the age of 19. He is currently on an Olympic redshirt year from Ohio State. Snyder also boasts a 2013 Junior World title. Graff, an NCAA runner-up for Wisconsin, is coming off a victory at the Bill Farrell International in New York City in November. E: Pro Wrestling League franchise Bengaluru Yodhas have replaced their Swedish wrestler Johanna Mattsson with Azerbaijan's Yuliya Ratkevich. "Owing to an injury, the Swede is yet to recover," Yodhas said in a statement. The Pro Wrestling League will begin on the December 10 with the Yodhas facing the Haryana Hammers the next day in their opening fixture at Delhi's KD Jadhav Stadium. Ratkevich, born in Belarus but representing Azerbaijan internationally, is one of the most decorated wrestlers to be part of the PWL. The 30-year-old will compete for the Bengaluru-franchise in the 58-kg category. Coming off a bronze medal clinched at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Ratkevich also has an Olympic bronze medal earned at the London edition in the 55-kg category.
