South Africa rising female wrestler

 Leanco Stans started wrestling as a young girl in a club where girls just didn’t wrestle. Thanks to her mother’s persistence and her own drive to succeed Leanco has grown into one of South  Africa’s top female wrestlers, from winning gold as a young Cadet at the 2012 Continental Championships, to participating in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, to eventually winning a Bronze in a  tough Senior category at last year’s Continental Championship.  Lallie (as she is known in wrestling) has taken another step on her journey to realising her dream. On the 28 th  of February, she left on what can only be called an opportunity of a lifetime after  having been selected by United World Wrestling to participate in the first of a series of training camps organised specifically to improve the level of woman’s wrestling in the Commonwealth  Countries.  After the initial camps, Elite Female Wrestler Scholarships will be offered to a few commonwealth countries which show the most potential in wome

Nigeria wrestling championship weighing begins

Seriake Dickson’s  National Wrestling Classics started on Thursday with all participants from the 36 states of the country doing  weigh-in exercises. A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) covering the event reports that the wrestlers converged on Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, the venue of the five-day competition. As at the time of filling this report, the total number of participants could not be ascertained because some wrestlers were yet to be at the venue. Daniel Igali, the President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF ), said that the weigh-in was to properly classify the wrestlers. Kgomotso 16 Makgetho.She is the youngest Wrestler ever to represent Botswana in Namibia during the NWF Wrestling Championship in Windhoek last year in 2016 and Scooped Silver Medal.She is a promising and hardworking young Wrestlers.She is always punctual when it comes to training sessions.She also scooped Gold Medal and became a National Wrestling Champion during the 2nd National Wrestling Championship that was held at BDF Camp in Selebi Phikwe last year.Kgomotso will defend her title in November during the up coming 3rd National Wrestling Championship to be held in Francistown in November.She will also represent Botswana in Namibia in June this year.
